Project Review Report
Stokvis Tapes provide Project Review Reports (PRR) in order to prevent future production problems by eliminating die-cut part design risks. Stokvis offers effective technical co-operation to their customers at a professional level resulting in:
- a reliable and stable process
- tighter tolerances
- lower tooling costs
- quick and easy-to-use parts
- faster start-up of mass-production
- superior delivery performance
By exchanging experience and knowledge technical difficulties can be avoided saving time and money for both parties. Furthermore, the experience gained by understanding design and production requirements is invaluable for current and future.
There are numerous reasons why problems can occur and cause bottlenecks in the production line. We have provided some of the more common examples and offered design solutions to solve them.
Small diameter holes in product
Problem-
-Having small holes in a product can have a very negative effect on production capability.
-Under 1.2mm diameter tooling cannot be done.
-Under 2.0mm waste removing is problematic which increases production time and cost.
Stokvis Solution-
-Stokvis Tapes recommends to enlarge the hole diameter to a minimum of 2.0 mm or open a small hole towards the side of the part.
Thin Wall Effect
Problem-
-Having a very thin wall can also have several negative effects in the production process and also on the usability of the part.
Stokvis Solution-
-Depending on material thickness it is very important to have at least a 0.8-1.0mm wall for every product.
-If the material thickness is greater than the thickness of the wall it will quickly damage the tool.
-If the edges are too close together the part can only be produced by cutting the inner and outer shape separately. This results in inferior tolerances, since the registration of tools will not be exactly 100%.
Part position on liner
Problem-
-Increase in tooling cost, requires more raw material, which affects the price of the end product and in some cases it causes slower production process speed.
Stokvis Solution-
-Recommends positioning holes on the side of the liner when the product itself is transparent. Otherwise setting sensor to the product itself is always results at least 0.1mm more precise pick-up.
-Neglecting positioning holes also has a positive effect on production speed, raw material usage and importantly the tool price.
Open - Closed Liner
Problem-
-Requesting a closed liner on small parts causes an increase in the tooling price (since it requires an extra tool) and also has negative effect on part tolerances.
Stokvis Solution-
-Our telecom engineers will help in the design of an open liner.
Multi-layer parts
Problem-
Multipe layers can cause slower production process, creating greater tolerances and more tooling and equipment.
Solution-
-Change the order of the layers when possbile
-leave top adhesive layer off if it is not necessary, or insert it separately
